This post is all about how to lose 10 Ibs without exercise.
Are you self-conscious about your body? Do you want to lose 10 lbs. of your weight? Is exercising the reason you give up on achieving your body goals?
Well, guess what? Me too!
After I came back from my Germany trip back in 2017 (ugh, the Germany story again), living a healthier lifestyle was a new goal that I added to my list.
I knew that if I wanted to be fit enough to travel, I would have to get rid of some bad habits.
After 1 year of implementing these methods that I am about to tell you about, I lost 10 Lbs. effortlessly.
(It also helps if you don’t check the scale every day. Once a month or once every few months should do.)
It was so easy that I hardly ever thought about checking the scale. I just felt like an overall healthier person.
I know this is a touchy subject for some people but I was (and still am) so impressed with my results that I had to share my journey.
Maybe my methods can help you too.
Disclaimer
Before we start, I just want to say that the strategies that I mention down below may have worked for me but might not work for you. So, keep that in mind. I am not an expert in weight loss or health whatsoever. This post is just me sharing my experience and should be used for informational purposes only. You, the reader, will read at your own risk. If you choose to incorporate these methods into your life, I will not be held responsible for any consequences or inconveniences that come about. You know your body best.
If something isn’t working, then you should probably stop. I recommend seeking a professional or expert to make any decisions related to weight loss and body health. I cannot guarantee that any of these methods will work for you and show the desired results; however, these methods will most likely lead you to live a healthier lifestyle overall.
Here I am at 136 Ibs. in 2017
This is me at 126 Ibs. in 2019
Lastly, this is me at 124 Ibs. in 2021

How To Lose 10 Ibs Without Exercise
1. You Can Lose 10 Ibs. by Drinking More Water
I absolutely love water. The taste. The feel. Everything.
But for some reason, a good handful of people don’t drink enough water. And I used to be one of them.
When I came back from Germany, I was just like you.
I was looking up how to lose weight naturally. How to be healthier. I researched a lot. And on almost all the blogs and websites I came across, they all mentioned drinking more water.
The average person is supposed to drink about 64 fluid ounces a day (roughly 4 water bottles worth of water). It also depends on how active you are. If you’re active, you should drink more.
Before Germany, I was drinking maybe one bottle worth of water a day and drank juice or soda when I wasn’t drinking water.
There were probably days where I didn’t drink water at all.
Ever since I started drinking more water, I started eating less because I would feel full longer. Most of the time, when you think you’re hungry and want to grab a snack, you are actually just dehydrated and your body wants water.
So, if you start drinking more water, you can start losing weight naturally.
Tips
I suggest drinking water before and after meals, as soon as you wake up, and right before you go to sleep.
I also suggest that you try making water your primary beverage. Replace all the juices, sodas, etc. with water to start seeing results.
2. You Can Lose 10 Ibs. by Eating Smaller Portions
I was still in high school and still living with my parents in 2017 so I didn’t have much control over WHAT I ate.
What I did have control over was HOW much I ate.
My family and I ate rice with some kind of meat every night for dinner.
Before Germany, I would eat 3 bowls of rice and meat to go along with it.
After Germany, I decided to stop eating 2 bowls of rice and meat.
Eating 3 bowls of rice wasn’t good because I was full from eating 2 bowls and kept eating because the food tasted good. I felt that I still had room in my stomach to eat more.
The fact that I ate so much right before bed didn’t help either because you need to give your body enough time to digest before bed.
When I switched to eating only 2 bowls of rice, I noticed that I felt full enough to stop eating.
I definitely could’ve eaten more considering I used to eat 3 bowls of rice every night. But I decided not to because I knew that I didn’t need more food and that it wasn’t good for my body.
Over time, I was eating fewer calories and started going down to my natural weight.
3. You Can Lose 10 Ibs. By Snacking less
Another method I incorporated to lose 10 Lbs. was to snack less.
Almost every day after school, my dad would get me fast food such as Little Caesar’s, McDonald’s, or Krystal’s to eat on the way home.
We all know how bad fast food is for you with all the grease and sodium that the foods have in them, let alone eating it EVERY day. I was definitely eating fast food almost every day.
Don’t get me wrong, the food is delicious and I appreciate my dad going out of his way to get me snacks after school.
But at the same time, I was overeating.
What’s worse is that after we get home, I would sometimes raid the pantry and eat even more!
Guess what my go-to snacks were. They were either chips, mac and cheese, or ramen.
To be fair, I was participating in a sport at the time so that’s probably why I was only at 136 Lbs. and was eating so much.
I can’t even imagine how much weight I would’ve put on if I wasn’t in a sport. (I wasn’t playing a sport anymore after Germany so the title still applies, no exercise.)
All this snacking was definitely because I felt like it and not because I was hungry.
So, I’ll say it again, if you think you’re hungry for a snack, drink some water first and see how you feel after that. Most of the time, you’re not hungry anymore.
Not only are you increasing your water intake, but you’re also decreasing your calorie intake. So it’s a win-win.
4. You Can Lose 10 Lbs. by Changing your Snack Foods
Like I said in the previous method, I was snacking on junk food.
So after Germany, whenever I did end up eating snacks anyway AFTER I tried drinking water, I would go for fruit or yogurt.
My favorite fruits to eat were strawberries. (I also stopped dipping them in sugar.)
If I’m being completely honest, having only yogurt and fruit was SO boring. So I ended up just not snacking at all.
(Less calorie intake. Also, don’t count your calories because it will stress you out. Just look at the ingredients and understand and act appropriately when your body feels full. Don’t give in to having a second round of food.)
Just think about what snacks you usually go for and see if you can think of any healthier (maybe even tastier) alternatives.
5. You Can Lose 10 Lbs. by Getting 8+ hours of sleep
Before Germany, I was getting an average of 6.5 to 7 hours of sleep.
I lived 20 minutes from my school that started at 7 am. So I had to wake up around 5-5:30 am and leave the house by 6:20 to make it to school on time. (I left my house early because there tend to be lots of traffic in the area that I lived in.)
I wouldn’t go to sleep until around 10-10:30 pm the night before. That was mainly because my parents weren’t asleep yet so I would just wait for them to turn off all the lights before I closed my eyes. (Excuses, excuses.)
But after Germany, I realized that I wanted to take control over my life and wash up at 8:30, be in bed by 9, and fall asleep by 9:30. Then, when I wake up around 5-5:30, I would have gotten about 7.5-8 hours of sleep.
(My grades improved dramatically after this too. I went from an A-B-C student to an A and one B student. So, if you’re a student and trying to improve your grades, more sleep works.)
Getting the amount of sleep that your body needs are how your body recovers. You gain more energy (and your mind can function easier.)
When you are sleep-deprived, your body has to work harder, which puts more stress on your body, slows down your metabolism, and makes you gain weight.
So, get that extra sleep, let your body shed the extra weight off for you, and you’ll be back to your natural weight in no time (assuming you incorporate the other methods I’ve mentioned too.)
Ending Note
And that’s how I lost 10 Lbs. It only took a year! (even though the pictures I showed you are 2 years apart.)
I’ve pretty much been able to maintain my weight over the years.
After I started incorporating these methods into my life, I would naturally gravitate towards healthier options. I began craving healthier options. I barely drink juice or soda anymore because I don’t really want it (although it does taste amazing.)
At one point, I actually did get down to 120 Lbs. but then I started eating lots of Oreos and sleeping late which is why I’m back up to 124 Lbs. right now.
So diet and sleep really do play a big factor in your bodily changes.
Since I started college and acquired more responsibilities as an individual, I began shifting my mindset from losing weight to getting toned, fit, and healthier.
Just because I lost 10 lbs. doesn’t necessarily mean I’m healthy.
Sure, I’m healthier than I was when I was 136 Lbs. but my endurance for physical activity was (and is) still weak.
Now, I’m less focused on what the scale says, but more on how much muscle I have, how much muscle I can gain, and how many activities I can do without wheezing half the time.
I have in fact started exercising. Maybe one day I’ll write about my fitness journey.
I am also starting to implement these methods into my life again because I started losing these good habits after starting college.
I hope this list inspired you in some way to live a healthier lifestyle.
If there is anything else that you think is useful for a weight loss journey that I did not mention, please email me or let me know in the comments below. Good day!
P.S.
I also want to add that it wasn’t only college that influenced me to lose my good habits.
These methods got harder to follow once I started dating my boyfriend because we eat out whenever we are together (which is about once a week) and have home movie dates with LOTS of snacks.
It’s a fun time but my good habits are slowly turning into bad habits… bad boyfriend you. (But I could just take matters into my own hands and develop healthy habits when I’m not with him the other 6 days of the week… hmmm. Lol, I’ve gotten so lazy since 2017. It’s bad.)
